During your stay we encourage you to visit Chankhasi School which is located a 10 minute walk from the lodge. Since 2008, Nkhotakota Safari Lodge has supported the building of this community primary school after concerns that many young children were not attending school as it was a long way to walk to the nearest primary school, which was over 6 Km away. Furthermore, in the rainy season the rivers were too dangerous for young children to cross.  Today, with significant help from Nkhotakota Safari Lodge, Chankhasi School now accommodates over 300 students and employs eight  teachers.

We have special accommodation and meal rates for well-wishers who step out of their comfort zone to volunteer at the school as teachers. The presence of volunteers helps to inject fresh energy into the school’s daily activities.
